Rehman Malik warning to block Google, YouTube in Pakistan

Islamabad: A popular Internet search engine Google, and sites like YouTube to be closed in Pakistan, if not to cooperate with authorities to investigate crimes and accidents, terrorism, the Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned. Malik said at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency here while interacting with reporters.
He urged the sites to expand to help the authorities to destroy terrorism in the country. The government would be forced to block some sites like YouTube and Google search engine, if not to extend the cooperation of the authorities, said Malik. Taliban and other terrorist organizations had been sharing information on the Internet, and it is necessary to curb these activities, he said.
Malik gave no details about the crimes and acts of terrorism that websites can provide information about. New television also quoted as saying that Malik had issued an order that a case was registered against Google director of Pakistan.
Malik urged the sites to assist the authorities to exterminate terrorism in the country.
The minister has faced criticism and ridicule from civil society and rights groups for many of his recent comments. Malik had said recently that the jealous girlfriends and wives, not political or criminal groups were responsible for the majority of targeted assassinations in the southern port city of Karachi
