SAN FRANCISCO -Ronnie Montrose, who established the band that carried his name and conducted with some of rock's heavy hitters, has passed away.
His arranging agent, Jim Douglas, says Montrose passed away Saturday at his house in Millbrae, Calif. He was 64.
Douglas says Montrose had been in decreasing wellness for a while, dealing with prostate cancer malignancy and what Douglas known as "personal challenges."
In inclusion to developing his own team in 1973, Montrose conducted with a variety of rocking chairs, such as Sammy Hagar, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs and the Edgar Winter winter Group. Douglas says Montrose was operating on launching a DVD and beginning a trip that would have taken him across the U.S.
Montrose is lasted by his spouse, Leighsa, as well as a son, a girl and five grandchildren.
